Horse Racing Label Wine Label

Tessa Guze, Neck n Neck, Wine Label 2011
This is a painting I did for a wine label exhibition run by the (no name) Art Group, at B Square Gallery. The (no name) art group asked 50 artists each to create wine labels. Wine bottles where sold at the opening with the buyers choice of wine label. The proceeds went to raise money for Philabundance, a charity that fights hunger in the Philadelphia area. The artists had the choice to sell there paintings for personal profit or to donate the proceeds to Philabundance, I choose to do the latter and I am very excited that my piece sold!

Racing Horse Sketch

Tessa Guze, Race Horse Sketch, charcoal on canvas, 18" x 24"
This is a sketch portrait of a racing horse. In this sketch I am focused on defining the shadow shapes to create a sense of volume. In the final painting I will focus on the details and colors.

Jack and Bethann

Tessa Guze, Jack and Bethann, oil on canvas, 18" x 24"

This is a portrait of Bethann Mitchell and her pet bull Jack. Bethann Mitchell is an illustrator living on a lavender farm in NJ. As well as painting she has rescued numerous animals (4 horses, 9 goats, 1 bull, 4 dogs, 9 cats and 2 ducks!). She is one of the kindest, most generous people I have ever meet and also an amazing painter! Visit her blog lavenderandpainting.blogspot.com

Jugar

This is a portrait of the street dog who lived on the steps of my building in New Delhi. Despite being neglected, dismissed and verbally abused he remained a sweet, friendly and cheeky animal!

Welcome

Thank you for visiting my blog!

As a people and animal portrait painter I believe that a successful portrait is not just a copy of what the subject looks like, but it is also a lasting reflection of the subject's character and personality (whether human or animal). For the artist, this requires getting to know the subject in a very profound way. I love getting to know new people and animals and finding ways to make my paintings reflect their personality and presence.

If you are interested in commissioning a portrait of one of your pets or a painting of a favorite animal please contact me at tessaguze@gmail.com. Prices are negotiable. Additionally some of the paintings featured here will be for sale so if your interested please also shoot me and email!

I also do portraits of people or portraits of people with their animals (you can get your whole family done)!
